A quiet sea produced two Goldeneye among slim pickings today, with the Kingfisher still at the Dams. Also at the Dams yesterday (20th) were two Chiffchaffs, two Mute Swans, eight Curlew, 65 Wigeon, 50 Teal, a Shoveler and two argentatus Herring Gulls, with three Bonxies and a 1cy Glaucous Gull passing the Gap – the latter likely the same bird present on the country park briefly on 19th.
Also on the 19th, the Red-necked Grebe remained off the Brigg (also seen 20th), where a pale-bellied Brent Goose sneaked by with 51 dark-bellied congeners; other wildfowl on the move included a Velvet Scoter, 60 Wigeon, four Pintailm 14 Eiders, a make Goosander and two Red-breasted Mergansers, with similar numbers recorded at the Gap.
