A quieter day today with a light easterly wind and plenty of sunshine. After three days awol (at least two of which were spent at Flamborough), the first-year drake Surf Scoter returned and was close inshore along the north side of the Brigg. On the sea, a good movement of Sandwich Terns numbered 371 south this morning, with two Common Terns, three Gadwall and single Little Ringed and Grey Plovers also south.
Waders in the Brigg area included five Turnstones, 16 Dunlin, four Ringed Plovers and two Sanderlings, while the Dams and East Lea combined held three Yellow Wagtails, four Mute Swans, a Cuckoo, two Common Sandpipers, 75 Swallows, 40 Sand Martins and 50 Swifts (with plenty more of the latter elsewhere).
