A day of thick fog and a cold northerly wind hampering observations. On the sea (at least, the sliver that could be seen) a few terns on the move included two Common and one Arctic, the Surf Scoter was just visible in the murk, while five Yellow Wagtails, 85 Swallows, 60 Sand Martins and 15 House Martins were feeding at the Dams this evening and a Little Ringed Plover dropped in there this morning.
Earlier, the ringing team were in action there and caught an impressive haul of 31 birds: Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler, 3 Reed Buntings, 2 Willow Warblers, 4 Blackcaps, 1 Whitethroat, 1 Chiffchaff, 3 Great Tits, 5 Dunnocks, 5 Blue Tits, 1 Blackbird, 1 Tree Sparrow, 3 Wrens (plus 1 re-trapped Dunnock).
