A late Lesser Whitethroat was in the Top Scrub on 1st. High numbers of thrushes dropped into East Lea, mainly Blackbird. Woodcock, Snow Bunting, Stonechat, and Short-eared Owl were features of November. Twite and Little Gulls also appeared in numbers. A (The?) Brown Booby flew around the end of the Brigg being mobbed and flew out into the bay on 2nd. A Black Tern appeared and lingered for most of the month, the second latest ever for Yorkshire. Six Crossbill flew north at Hunmanby Gap on 3rd. 13 Whooper Swan flew south at Hunmanby Gap. At Carr Naze & Brigg 3 Snow Bunting, 34 Ringed Plover, 37 Purple Sandpiper and an adult Arctic Tern were present at high tide roost. A female Long-tailed Duck was at East Lea, with a Great White Egret south over bay. There was a decent movement of finches south over Hunmanby Gap in the morning with 385 Siskin, 111 Redpoll, 187 Goldfinch (record November count), 70 Chaffinch, 9 Brambling and a single Twite all south plus a total of 26 Whooper Swan south and 2 Red-breasted Merganser north. On 4th three late Swallows went north over the Country Park. There was a Firecrest in Church Ravine. On 5th 20 Bottle-nosed Dolphin were off the Brigg. The Northern Lights made a spectacular showing from Hunmanby Gap. Two Sandwich Tern flew south on 6th. On 8th two Velvet Scoter went south at Hunmanby Gap. With an Arctic Skua chasing a Common Tern there as well. On 9th 96 Crossbill and 200 Siskin flew south at Hunmanby Gap. On 11th a female Red-breasted Merganser, a Grey Plover, 40 Purple Sandpipers, 35 Sanderling and 10 Ringed Plovers were on the Brigg. An out of place Egyptian Goose flew north at Hunmanby Gap on 15th. A good flock of nine Goldeneye were inshore at Hunmanby Gap. A Black Redstart and 5 Snow Bunting were at the end of Carr Naze on 17th. A flock of 19 Waxwing flew south at Hunmanby Gap. 2 GN Diver, 1 Red-throated Diver, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Goldeneye, 3 Common Scoter, 3 Mediterranean Gull (adults), 2,500 Black-headed Gull, 260 Common Gull, 2 Great Black-backed Gull, and 20 Herring Gull were in the bay roost. 23 Waxwing flew south at Hunmanby Gap on on 19th. Two Great White Egrets flew south over Coble Landing. On 21st 1 Manx shearwater, 3 Little Gull, 35 Kittiwake, 12 Gannet, 12 Fulmar, 14 auks, 7 Shag, 4 Red throated Diver and 4 Common Scoter flew north, and 1 Eider went south at Hunmanby Gap. There was a late Sandwich Tern. An estimated 10,000 Starling flew south west at Hunmanby Gap, which had previously murmurated over the Hunmanby area on 22nd. Yet more Waxwing flew south at Hunmanby Gap on 22nd (22) and 23rd (23). 15 Twite were at the Rocket Pole Field.
