A mild day today with a light south-westerly wind was notable for wildfowl movements along the coastal strip, with a particularly good count of 14 Scaup (two into the north of the bay, 12 off the Gap), 10 White-fronted Geese west over the town, 34 Whooper Swans (in parties of one, two, 10, 15 and five) and 595 Pink-footed Geese (with double figures on most recent days) (KC, MJP, PJD). Also logged at the Gap this morning were 139 Siskins, five Yellowhammers (unfortunately notable here these days) and a late House Martin. A Long-tailed Duck and Great Northern Diver passed the Brigg (Js, JP), while at least two Snow Buntings are in the Carr Naze area.
