A female Merlin was at the Gap both today and yesterday (KC), with a Grey Plover, a Bonxie and 101 Teal south the best of a quiet sea. Decent wader passage yesterday (14th) over the sea included 136 Redshank, 162 Dunlins, 49 Knot and 17 Sanderling all south, as well as a Sooty Shearwater (also seen from the Gap), 2 Bonxies and an Arctic Skua in the same direction.
In a what’s been a productive period for this species, 34 Black-tailed Godwits went south at the Gap on 13th and 11 on 12th, while a Brown Argus was reported from the Dams on the former date along with two Greenshank and 49 Lapwings.
