FBOG are pleased to announce that a new book on Filey’s birds is about to be published. This book is about Filey’s rarer birds, where and how they were found, and by whom. Taken directly from the finder’s accounts, with details on the species status at Filey, in Yorkshire and in England, professionally published and fully colour-illustrated, this book is a must for every Filey birder’s bookshelf. It has been co-written by the current Recorder and two past Chairmen.
The species in this 200 page volume include everything from firsts for Britain (eg the infamous unringed Spectacled Warbler) to local megas such as Nuthatch. Notable subspecies such as Britain’s first (and only) Russian Pied Flycatcher are also included. If you would like to see some sample pages please email recorder@fbog.org.uk or phone (George on 07305 – 846020).
The book is available at a special pre-publication price of £10 (afterwards £12), and has a limited print run. Once they’ve gone they’ve gone. If you would like to reserve a copy please email or phone the recorder. Please also state if you would like to collect a copy or have them posted out. They can be collected either in Filey or Haxby, York, or posted out for £3 p&p.
