April started with a Snow Bunting south and a Manxie north at Hunmanby Gap. Puffins also appeared off North Cliff in numbers with 75 counted. A Red Kite was seen on 3rd. A Black Redstart appeared in a local birders garden in the evening. Bottle-nosed Dolphins featured offshore all month. A massive 2012 Meadow Pipits

October Ringing Week 8th – 16th

The October Ringing Week will be held from Saturday 8th October to Sunday 16th, weather permitting. Most of the activity will be as usual in the Country Park in the top north-east corner ("the Top Scrub"). All welcome.

Filey Old Tip Reserve closed temporarily from Monday 7th February

From Monday 7th Feb 2022, for approximately 2 weeks, the Filey Old Tip reserve will be closed. This is to allow a contractor access with heavy equipment to construct two new wildlife ponds. On completion of the work, we will be in touch again. Mark Moore (FBOG Hon Sec)

Richard’s Pipit wintering at Filey

The wintering Richard's Pipit continues to stay in the Rocket Pole Field, and can show very well on occasion around the Carr Naze pond. The bay has Great Northern Divers and the Brigg our iconic Purple Sandpipers, so always worth a look. The Recorder

Changes to the FBOG Recording Boundaries

At the last AGM in 2021 it was agreed that we should tidy up our northern and southern boundaries. Scarborough Birders have always included Blue Dolphin CP in their area, and we appear to have accidentally included it in our area as well for a few years. So our northern boundary is now Bowes Lane
